IMAT 2020 Result Comparison: Non-EU Numbers

NON-EU scores rise and flatten

Based on the latest anonymous score reporting for IMAT 2020, here we have analyzed a list of featured score information expected for each Italian medical schools, including Milan IMS, Pavia, Bologna, and the others. Most importantly, the following score analysis is solely for your individual reference purpose only, meaning this document does NOT establish any legal liability, specifically in terms of the actual and final IMAT results and/or individual admission provisions.

▣ Analytic Pre-Conditions Used for Preliminary Estimation (*see the lower table)

  • Only the officially announced “non-EU” test location data were used
  • Assuming more than 95% of the test takers are considered to be “non-EU” applicants from “non-EU” test locations
  • Assuming less than 5% of the test takers are considered to be “non-EU” applicants from “EU” test locations
  • Due to COVID-19, the possibility of non-EU applicants to take IMAT in EU locations was considerably low, and vice-versa.

  1. This is “non-EU 1st round” results from all universities in Oct. 2020.
  2. Messina and Rome Tor Vergata have non-EU highest scorer taken in EU locations.
  3. Compared with the previous years, IMAT 2020 shows slightly increased “score ranges,” especially for the average scores of Top 20 applicants for each university.
  4. Most “popular and competitive” universities were Turin (143 applicants) and Pavia (120), while Padova (21), Rome TV (24), and Bari (24) have slightly lower number of applicants than usual.
  5. Siena (*Dentistry major only) showed a drastic increase in the number of applicants as well as the average score range for acceptance.

  1. All scores are “actual” and reported on “anonymous results.”
  2. All scores can be “lowest possible,” depending on the scores from “non-EU test takers from EU test locations.”
  3. The number of applicants may increase, depending on the number of “non-EU test takers from EU test locations.”
  4. Compared with the previous years, IMAT 2020 shows slightly increased “score ranges,” especially for the average scores of Top 20 applicants for each university.
  5. Most “popular and competitive” universities were Turin (143 applicants) and Pavia (120), while Padova (21), Rome TV (24), and Bari (24) have slightly lower number of applicants than usual.
  6. Siena (*Dentistry major only) showed a drastic increase in the number of applicants as well as the average score range for acceptance.
  7. Estimated Cut-off scores are based on the lowest 3-5 scores, depending on the number of accepted non-EU applicants and the Marco Polo spots dedicated to Chinese nationals (*in case of lack of Chinese candidates, the spots may be converted to either EU or non-EU candidates, depending on each university.)
